Alex King Design Officer After qualifying as an electrical tradesman in 1981, Alex gained an Associate Diploma in Electrical Engineering and was employed by SEQEB as a technical officer. For the next 22 years, he filled various technical and supervisory positions within SEQEB and Energex. His specialities were design of the distribution network and street lighting. Alex holds several other relevant qualifications, including Certificate in Illumination Engineering and Certificate of Electricity Distribution in Mains Layout. He is a design specialist. Because of his road lighting qualification, Alex is often assigned jobs which include more complex road lighting requirements. Alex is an Officer Member of Engineers Australia and Technician Member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of Australia. Contact Alex >> Steve Holland Design Officer Steve graduated as an electrical tradesman in 1990, and gained broad distribution system experience in various departments of SEQEB. He then worked as electrical system designer with SEQEB for several years, before assuming responsibility for asset and resource management for SEQEB's north Brisbane area. Steve has been producing designs for RRA since 1998. In that time, he has designed electricity reticulation and street lighting for more than 300 subdivisions. When necessary, Steve will work late into the night to produce an urgent design within 3 or 4 days. In addition to his phenomenal design output, Steve's detailed knowledge of Energex's existing network often allows him to provide valuable practical advice and input for other designers. Contact Steve >> Graham Willis Design Officer Graham holds a bachelor of science degree. He has been engaged in subdivision design for 10 years. Graham also writes computer programs. His most notable achievement has been the development of software for design of overhead lines, which is used by the majority of Australian electricity supply authorities. Contact Graham >> Matthew Fenech Design Officer After gaining electrical trade qualifications with Energex in 1999, Matthew joined us as trainee designer and field officer in 2003. Matthew now works mostly in the Ergon region of Central Queensland. Contact Matthew >> William Schardt Design Officer William qualified as an electrical tradesman in 1987 and gained an Associate Diploma in Electrical Engineering in 1990. William spent the first spent 21 years of his working life with Energex & its predecessors, gaining experience from the ground up. He started in the field as an electrician/linesman, but soon won appointment as a design officer, specialising in design of the electricity network and street lighting. For several years, before leaving Energex, William served as Subdivision Coordinator, responsible for managing Energex’s subdivision development process. He has spent the last 12 years specialising in the design of the electrical reticulation & street lighting in new estates. Not only does William have a thorough technical knowledge in this field, but he also knows Energex and Council processes very well. Often this is the key to a successful job. Contact William >> Dale Buckenham Design Officer Dale began his working life as an electrical linesman in 1985. He then qualified in overhead mains design, followed later by underground design. He was employed on this work by SEQEB for 5 years, before joining RRA in 1993. Altogether Dale has had 18 years' experience in distribution design. Because of his intimate knowledge of overhead lines, Dale is our overhead mains design specialist. Contact Dale >> Anthony Hobbs Design Officer Anthony commenced with us in 2000, after gaining hand-on construction experience with a large electricity reticulation contractor. Anthony's activities are varied. He is engaged mainly on design, but also assists Murray with administration. He also handles construction coordination for selected Sunshine Coast jobs. Anthony also holds a Diploma of Business. Contact Anthony >> Max Wilson Design Officer Max is our specialist road lighting designer. He has being doing road lighting design for 48 years and is probably the most experienced road lighting designer in Queensland. What Max doesn't know about road lighting is probably not worth knowing. For an "old generation" engineer, Max is remarkably versatile with CAD and complex lighting design software. Max holds a Diploma in Electrical & Mechanical Engineering and is a Member of the Illuminating Engineering Societies of Australia and North America. Contact Max >> Shane Mills NBN Design Officer Shane qualified as an Architectural Draftsman in 1991 and has been working with Robin Russell since mid-2010. Originally working in the residential sector Shane was involved in new home design, large home extensions and small developments. Now Shane produces our NBN designs. Apart from working closely with NBN to ensure our designs meet NBN’s strict criteria Shane also aims to give developers the best outcome for their projects. Contact Shane >>
